The short version
ClassKit apps run on your own computer. Your papers, questions, memos and backups are stored there and are never sent to us. You don’t need an account, and we don’t collect your name, email address or school.
What the app sends
ClassKit Exam Builder contacts one address, updates.classkit.co.za, to check whether a newer version exists and to download it. You can switch this off in the app’s settings. The request contains nothing about you or your work. Like any internet request, it reaches our server with your internet address, which we don’t store.
What we count
To know whether ClassKit is useful, we keep anonymous daily totals:
- how many times each installer was downloaded, and from which country;
- how many update checks arrived, and roughly how many copies of the app were in use that day.
To count each copy once a day we make a one-way code from the internet address and browser details, mixed with a secret that changes every day. The code can’t be turned back into an address, and it is deleted the next day. We don’t store internet addresses and can’t tell who you are.
This website
The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies and without tracking you across other sites. There are no adverts and no third-party trackers.
Who runs ClassKit
ClassKit is an independent South African project by P&S Rekenaars. The website and downloads are served by Cloudflare. We handle information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and since we don’t collect personal information, there is nothing about you for us to share or sell.
